Global Mayors’ Forum’s “Road to Rio+20” Advocacy

At the Six-Party Forum that took place on 19 November 2011, Secretary General of the UN Rio+20 Summit Mr. Sha Zukang, Mayor of Oldenburg Dr. Gerd Schwandner, President of International Downtown Association Mr. David Downey, the special representative of UCLG ASPAC Ms. Zhang Ruoning together with other representatives carried out a contributive discussion on the theme of “Developing a green economy and Leading a low-carbon life”. At the end of the Forum, Ms. Jin Lan, Secretary General of GMF read the advocacy and called for everyone’s support to the Rio+20 Summit.

As an international non-governmental organization, Global Mayors’ Forum always aims at searching solutions to sustainable urban development. The council members of GMF from across the globe have been devoting themselves in improving natural environment and building up liveable cities. International Mayor Communication Centre, the permanent secretariat of GMF, has also been putting the idea of sustainability into practice and carrying out a green mode in daily work.

 

Secretary General Ms. Jin Lan called for everyone to support the UN Rio+20 Summit and protect our planet. UN’s Under Secretary General Mr. Sha Zukang, President of GMF Dr. Carl Men Ky Ching firstly signed on the Advocacy. Other guests and representatives warmly joined in and signed their names to support the content of the Advocacy.
